The Village Press began at Black Barn Winery in Havelock North, selling fresh pressed extra virgin olive oil at the Hawke's Bay Farmers' Market. It was a simple idea: take the finest olives from New Zealand's most productive growing region and press them as close to the moment of harvest as possible.

More than 20 years on, the idea has not changed. We still believe that New Zealanders deserve the finest extra virgin olive oil available. We still press from the first harvest. We still bottle at the source. And we still obsess over quality in a way that a large-scale commercial operation never could.

Today, The Village Press is New Zealand's leading producer of extra virgin olive oil. We work with passionate growers throughout New Zealand, Australia, Spain, and Greece. We press and bottle two distinct brands: The Village Press and Global Village. Our premium New Zealand and Australian grown range, our artisan collection of internationally sourced extra virgin olive oils bottled right here in Hawke's Bay.
